FAQs

What is coaching?

Coaching focuses on helping you become the person you want to be, helping you navigate change with more purpose, ease and grace. I take a client-centred approach to care, that, rather than being reductionistic, recognises the complexities and contradictions of what it is to be human. I support you to get clarity and drive meaningful, fulfilling transformation, working with you to better understand your own process, and helping remove any roadblocks along the way. I like to say I take care of 2 people in the room: who you are today, and who you want to become. Ultimately, I help you get unstuck and out of pain and lethargy, and back to vitality, fulfilment, creativity, joy, curiosity and passion.

What happens in a session?

Sessions occur online and typically involve a lot of talking, to get clarity on where you are at, and where you want to be. Working with the body, such as through somatics, embodiment, movement, memory, or visualisation is another big part of the work.

While the sessions can be transformative in and of themselves, sustainable change typically requires regular practice. That’s why they call it clinical ‘practice’, and ask you to play ‘patient’ 😉 Often, depending on your goals, there will be some form of homework/homeplay for you to do in between sessions. Initially, while the habits are still being formed, more frequent appointments are generally recommended.

I foster close relationships with my clients over many months and years. For some, only short-term support is needed. An often cited study on habit change suggests it takes 18-254 days to form a new habit, with participants taking, on average, 66 days to automate that habit. I see this reflected in our practice, which is why I typically ask for a minimum commitment of 6 weeks working together.

Who is this for?

This is for people who feel like they need to make a change and are looking for support. I work with anyone over the age of 18 with a curious and inquisitive mind.

Some of the things I often help with include:

  • Burn-out, stress and resilience
  • Dealing with a new medical diagnosis
  • Help with a new exercise, nutrition or stress management plan
  • Managing chronic fatigue and pain syndromes
  • Improving your habits
  • Creative and artistic block
  • Fostering a healthier relationship with your body, as well as with food, alcohol, cigarettes, sex, and exercise
  • Aging gracefully
  • Accountability and support with your goals
  • Life transitions, such as moving house, changing career, or relationship changes
  • Reconnecting to clarity, focus, vitality, joy, curiosity and passion

Ie do not recommend these consultations for:

  • People dealing with acute addiction or in a mental health crisis. I’m not a qualified psychologist or psychiatrist, and refer out for all acute psychological care. I recommend your GP (General Practitioner/Family Doctor) as a primary starting point for these kinds of concerns.
  • Someone looking for an instant magic pill fix. Most conditions affecting people in the 21st Century need to be addressed multi-factorially, which nearly always includes a degree of lifestyle modification. This requires a degree of motivation to change on your behalf. Sometimes change happens instantly, but mostly it happens gradually. Coaching helps make that process as smooth as possible, but often there is a degree of effort involved. If you’re not ready to change, you’re not ready for coaching. (The positive news is that, if you’ve made it here, there’s probably a part of you that is interested in making a change!)
  • People who still believe the mind and body are separate. Extensive research has proven the mind-body connection is far more interlinked than previously thought. For example, what we eat contributes to our psychological health, and addressing our emotional needs can result in improved physical fitness. While, during coaching, we may only address one or two key components at a time, the effects can be recognised at all levels of the body, mind, and spirit
  • Self-proclaimed racists, homophobes, transphobes, xenophobes, fascists, or misogynists are not welcome.

What is the cost?

To try and make care more affordable, I offer a sliding scale on pricing.

All sessions are 40 minutes (if you prefer a longer session, please get in touch for rates):

  • €85-100 euros (€70-100 euros for people living in Portugal)
  • $150-180 AUD
  • £75-85 GBP

If you’re unsure whether coaching is the right fit for you, please get in touch for a free 30-min discovery call. So that we can make sure we’re a good fit, it’s also helpful if you can share a bit about what you hope to get out of working together.

How frequent are sessions?

It completely depends on what’s being addressed, but initially x1 per week is usually recommended, then gradually becoming less frequent.

I also love seeing clients for ‘check-ups’ every so often. It’s much easier to make positive change when we’re feeling resourced to do so. Prevention is much better than cure.

Cancellation policy

I require a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment, otherwise the full price will be charged.

How can I book?

Please go here to book. If it’s your first appointment, I will get in touch with you via email ahead of your appointment, to find out a little more about you, and what you’re hoping to get out of coaching.

Still have questions?

Feel free to reach out with any and all questions. If I don’t think we can help, we’ll certainly try to point you in the right direction of someone who can!
